We are currently seeking volunteers for 3 board positions: Treasurer, Volunteer Coordinator, and Director of Events & Fundraising. Details below.
Within our club we have approximately 125 dedicated volunteers that work together to ensure that our section of the Bruce Trail can be enjoyed by everyone. Some volunteer positions are as follows.
Leadership- BMBTC Board
Did you know that the BMBTC is entirely run by volunteers? On the board, there are many different volunteer roles which oversee the activities of the club.
Current Board Opportunities (April 2022-April 2025 to build continuity):
- This Director is responsible for management of the Club’s funds, bookkeeping, financial reporting/forecasting and related administrative duties. We seek a team player with relevant experience and familiarity with Sage software (or equivalent).
- Volunteer Coordinator
- This Director is responsible for matching volunteers to suitable roles. They maintain the volunteer database and facilitates the recruitment, training, and recognition of volunteers. We seek a candidate that is well organized and comfortable using digital tools.
- Director of Events and Fundraising
- This Director develops, organizes, and manages our Club’s events and fundraising activities. Traditionally, we have created events that raise money, and we intend to continue that. In addition, we seek to develop new initiatives, possibly online, to contribute to our goals. This Director will, with the help of the Volunteer Coordinator, build a team to plan and execute the activities. We seek a leader with related experience, team building skills, and who is digital savvy.
Our trained volunteers are responsible for leading and organizing our club hikes – sharing with others the wonders and excitements of the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment.
Our volunteers maintain approximately 70kms of the main Bruce Trail and roughly 30kms of side trails – keeping the trail safe, navigable, and enjoyable. Painting blazes, building structures (such as bridges and stairs), monitoring trail conditions, etc – our volunteers are needed at every step!
Volunteer Land Stewards actively care for 14 properties within the Blue Mountains section that are owned or managed by the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
When our club has a special event, we need many volunteers. This may include helping out at our annual End-To-End with refreshments or providing a shuttle for those participating.
